Just when I was beginning to think that I was the only Kronus owner in the UK, along comes Stephen Moon and his new TT machine. Stephen is on the comeback trail after racing in the early 90s, and is currently being coached by Dave Lloyd.

“My previous TTs were done on a standard road bike and this time I wanted the advantage of a steeper seat tube and a better aerodynamic package, so I started to look for a specialised bike. I really wanted an Italian bike, I love the heritage and style of the famous bike builders. My first port of call was Colnago, but while considering this, I saw Dave’s Maxima and was blown away by the quality. This led me to look more closely at the Kronus and again the build quality was superb. I also love the heritage of the Viner brand and I thought the combination of build and heritage was a real winner.”

A fitting session with Dave Lloyd means the Kronus should not only be spot on aerodynamically for Stephen but also be very comfortable in the TT ‘tuck’ position. The bike was also built up by Dave including Miche Supertype wheels and Rotor Aero 3d chainset. His saddle choice is spot on – the Prologo Nago TTR is a very comfortable TT specific perch.

Stephen’s first races on his TT bike are pencilled in for September. If his experience is anything like mine then the Kronus will propel him to many PBs. I wish him all the best.
